RDC Arrival Intimation: No Surprise Trucks.

An RDC that does not know what is coming cannot plan docks, labour or stock. The truck arrives, waits, and detention starts.

The problem

RDCs learn about loads when trucks appear at the gate.

The signal to watch

An arrival notice per truck: what is coming, when, and in which condition, before the truck is at the dock.

The playbook

  1. Send the RDC an intimation at dispatch with SKUs, batches and ETA.
  2. Update the ETA as pings arrive.
  3. Flag temperature or damage concerns before arrival.
  4. Let the RDC plan the dock and labour slot.
  5. Stamp arrival and unloading to measure the dwell.

How to measure it

Track RDC unloading dwell and detention by RDC, and the share of trucks with an intimation sent before arrival.

In SCM for Manufacturers this runs on the same record as every other step from indent to settlement. Related: ETA rules.

Questions

What is an arrival intimation?

A notice to the receiving RDC with what is coming, when and in which condition, sent before the truck reaches the dock.

Is it the same as an ASN?

It serves the same purpose as an advance shipping notice, extended with live ETA and condition.

See it on your own data. SCM for Manufacturers puts the plant gate, carriers, RDC stock, cold chain and OTIF on one control tower. Book a 30-minute working session with an engineer.
