- Why Ultra-cold Alerts Need a Ladder, Not an SMSAt −80 °C, an alert that is sent but not acknowledged is the real risk. An escalation ladder treats each alert as a task with a clock and keeps climbing roles until someone acts. It should trigger on drift and dry-ice exhaustion risk, not only on excursions, and record who did what.
- Five Questions Before Accepting a −80 °C ShipmentAccepting an ultra-cold shipment is a decision, not a formality. Before signing, review both logger traces, seal and dwell at every handoff, dispatch sign-offs, transit alerts and who closed them, and how fast the product reaches the freezer. If any answer is no, quarantine and raise an NCR.
Guides
- How to Ship Pharma Product at −80 °CTo ship pharma product at −80 °C, use a qualified shipper with dry ice calculated per lane, run two loggers, prepare dry-ice dangerous-goods papers, have two different people release it, watch temperature live in transit, seal and time every handoff, and download loggers before acceptance.
- Dry Ice Planning for Ultra-cold Pharma ShipmentsPlan dry ice per lane, not by habit: use lane time, seasonal ambient profile, the shipper’s qualified duration and hub top-up points, add a delay buffer, track remaining cover in transit with an early warning, and record every top-up against the shipment.
- Chain of Custody in the Pharma Cold ChainChain of custody in the pharma cold chain records who held a shipment, when and in what condition at every handoff: seal number, dwell time, temperature, dry ice top-ups and names. Kept with the temperature trace, it turns an excursion investigation into evidence instead of phone calls.
Playbooks
- Playbook: Dual Sign-off for Ultra-cold DispatchDual sign-off for ultra-cold dispatch means written pass/fail controls for container, loggers, loading, documents, vehicle and driver; any FAIL holds the shipment; QA and warehouse sign independently and the same person cannot sign twice; evidence and release time are recorded and holds reviewed weekly.
Comparisons
- Logger Download vs Live Tracking for Cold ChainDownloading a temperature logger at delivery shows an excursion only after the fact, when nothing can be done. Live tracking in transit raises alerts while the product is still cold, so the team can top up dry ice or escalate, and it keeps the full transit record alongside the downloaded trace.
