• UPI Reconciliation for Banks, NBFCs and PSPsUPI reconciliation confirms every transaction agrees across the switch, network settlement data and core or ledger, and that settled money matches. Common breaks are switch-success-not-posted, debits without a successful transaction, pending statuses, reference mismatches and disputes. Load sources daily, match by reference then tolerance, classify, age and own each break.
• Reconciliation Breaks: Classify, Age and Fix ThemA reconciliation break is an item without a match, or matched with a difference. Classify each one (timing, missing, duplicate, amount, reference, genuine error), record when it appeared, give it an owner and escalate by age and amount. Breaks that recur daily are missing rules: write the rule, have a checker approve it and watch it stop.
• Reconciliation Matching Rules: Exact, Tolerance, FuzzyReconciliation matching uses exact rules (same reference, amount, date), tolerance rules (amount or date within a set difference) and fuzzy narration rules. Run them in that order, narrowest first, send low-confidence fuzzy matches to review, and govern rules with versioning and maker-checker. A high match rate with wrong matches is worse than a lower one.

• Free calculators

• Reconciliation Match Rate and Break Ageing CalculatorAuto-match rate = records matched by rules ÷ records to reconcile × 100; total match rate adds manual matches. Open breaks are what remains, and the share older than your ageing threshold shows whether breaks are being worked. This free calculator shows all four; a match rate only matters if the matches are correct.

• Playbooks

• Board Pack and MIS Preparation PlaybookBoard packs take days when numbers are copied from several systems by hand. Reconcile sources first, define each metric once with its query, draft the pack from those queries so every number is traced, highlight changes since the last pack and use maker-checker. Reuse the same record for MIS and regulatory returns so numbers agree.

• Comparisons

• Spreadsheet vs Automated ReconciliationSpreadsheet reconciliation relies on lookups and macros, rules in one person’s head and breaks that age in a tab. A rules-based recon desk runs written, versioned rules daily, classifies, ages and owns breaks, turns recurring ones into suggested rules and keeps one audit log. Start with the noisiest recon, in parallel, then go primary.
