• FCI FAQ Wheat Specification ExplainedFAQ means Fair Average Quality, the FCI specification wheat is procured against. The limits in GrainGrade’s rulepack are foreign matter ≤0.75%, other foodgrains ≤2%, damaged ≤2%, slightly damaged ≤4%, shrivelled and broken ≤6% and moisture ≤14%. Check the version notified for your season.
• Wheat Quality Parameters: What Is Checked and WhyWheat quality at purchase is judged on foreign matter, other foodgrains, damaged and slightly damaged grain, shrivelled and broken grain, immature and insect-damaged grain, size and moisture. A photo can show the visible ones; moisture, protein, gluten and hidden insects still need a meter or a lab.
• How to Photograph a Wheat Sample for GradingTo photograph wheat for grading, hold the phone level directly above, spread grains in one layer on a plain matte background, include a scale marker or coin, keep it sharp and evenly lit. A good grading app refuses a bad photo with a reason instead of producing a wrong number.

• Playbooks

• Wheat Intake at the Mill Gate: A Grading PlaybookA mill-gate wheat intake playbook: write your spec down, fix the sampling method, standardise capture, measure moisture with a meter, share results with the supplier at the gate, send only borderline lots to the lab, and save every sample to its lot so quality can be trended by source.

• Comparisons

• Manual Wheat Grading vs Image AnalysisManual wheat grading needs a trained grader and varies by person; phone-photo image analysis applies the same method to every sample and saves it to the lot. Neither camera nor eye sees moisture, protein or hidden insects. Use photos for fast screening and the lab for borderline lots.
