How it is calculated

Cost per ton = (freight + other charges) ÷ tonnes. Cost per tonne-km divides again by distance. “If full” divides the same cost by the truck’s capacity. Read freight cost per ton.

Questions

How do I calculate freight cost per ton?

Add the truck freight and all other charges for the trip, then divide by the tonnes delivered.

Why include detention?

Because it is part of what the movement cost; leaving it out flatters slow lanes.
